The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has been alerted to the recent sighting of a North Atlantic right whale in the area of Herring Neck, near Twillingate in Notre Dame Bay.
No temporary measures are currently in place for mariners, but fish harvesters are being asked to be on alert in the general area.
A few days ago. two right whales were spotted off Pacquet on the Baie Verte Peninsula.
In 2019, a rare North Atlantic right whale was seen close to shore off the Bonavista Peninsula.
