It’s hoped that the Newfoundland Growlers will finally return to the renamed Mary Brown’s Centre in time for their next homestand December 1st.
VOCM News learned yesterday that the two sides in a dispute that left the team temporarily barred from access to the arena may have resolved their differences.
The Growlers were temporarily suspended from access to Mile One Centre on the eve of their home opener, while the city conducted an investigation regarding alleged incidents of disrespectful behaviour in the workplace.
VOCM News will have more information as it becomes available.

There’s word this afternoon of a possible breakthrough in the dispute between the Growlers hockey team and the City of St. John’s.
VOCM News has learned that the sides are close to resolving their differences, with the further possibility of the Growlers resuming play at the renamed Mary Brown’s Centre by next month.
In a statement earlier this week, the city said it appreciated the pressure the Growlers are under to find a place to play by December 1st, adding they were hopeful the dispute could be resolved as soon as possible.
The news comes following the leak of a confidential report this week into complaints of workplace harassment involving employees within St. John’s Sports and Entertainment.
It also comes on the heels of Growlers owner Dean MacDonald announcing he was looking at alternate venues for the Growlers, including the civic centre in Corner Brook.
He also floated the idea of building a new arena himself somewhere on the northeast Avalon Peninsula.
