One of the most popular holiday traditions on VOCM raised a record amount of money for a very important cause on Sunday.
VOCM Cares’ annual Dial-A-Carol brought in more than $22,000, and counting, for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in this province.
The society’s fund development lead, Michelle Lambert, was taken aback by the amount raised in one afternoon.
She says it just proves that there are many good people out there willing to support an important cause such as the blood cancer community.
Lambert says the money will help the society with its mission to find a cure for various blood cancers, while offering programs and services to support those dealing with the illness.
More than 600 people have been diagnosed with blood cancer in the province in the past two years.
While the Dial-A-Carol event has ended for this year, donations can still be made through the VOCM Cares Foundation online.
