A Facebook group formed to help ordinary people through tough times is launching its second annual Christmas Miracles project, in hopes of collecting items to fill hundreds of hampers for those in need.
Neighbours in Need was founded in January of 2020 by Newfoundlander Cortney Barber, who lives in Sparwood, British Columbia, and has more than 18,500 followers worldwide.
She says she created the group when she started to notice how many people were in need. “It just blew up,” she says and they’re continuing to grow.
Barber says they’re trying to fill up Christmas hampers for those in need through their Christmas Miracles project.
They’re hoping to help put together 250 hampers for seniors, individuals and families in need.
They have a “stuff a truck” event scheduled for Sunday, December 5th at the Wendy’s in Mount Pearl from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and they’re seeking donations to help fill as many hampers as possible.
