Newfoundland and Labrador’s unemployment rate took a big drop last month over October, nearly down to single digits for the first time in years. In October the rate was 13.9 but last month it was 10.4 per cent – and there are still many “help wanted” signs around.
Nationally, the rate dropped to 6 per cent from 6.7. Statistics Canada says the economy added 154,000 jobs in November as the labour market showed more signs it’s returning to pre-pandemic levels.
We still have the distinction of being the only province in Canada with double digit unemployment with all other jurisdictions under 9 per cent.
