Four people, including Philip Pynn, are facing charges following an alleged abduction on the Northeast Avalon late last night.
The RNC made the arrests as part of an investigation into a report that a 27-year-old man has been abducted at around 10:20 last night. Police located a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Old Broad Cove Road in Portugal Cove-St. Philips. The vehicle was pulled over a short distance away on Oliver’s Pond Road.
Inside were five people, including the man who was allegedly abducted.
The occupants were arrested without incident. As a result, four people are now facing charges. They include 35-year-old Philip Pynn who is facing charges of kidnapping, extortion, breach of probation and breach of recognizance. According to the court docket, the other three people are Jeff Aylward, Joseph Aylward, and Theresa O’Grady – all of St. John’s. They are each facing one count each of kidnapping and extortion.
The accused are scheduled to make first appearances in court today.
