The provincial government is pushing for most people to avail of pharmacies to receive their booster shot for COVID-19.
VOCM News has heard from several people who say they are having difficulty booking an appointment to get the third jab, but government says they aren’t aware of such issues.
Officials are pushing for those age 30 and older to avail of pharmacies to get their 3rd dose, as opposed to public health clinics.
Premier Andrew Furey says availing of a pharmacy can often be a quick process.
He says unlike a year ago, vaccines are widely available in pharmacies, and people often don’t need an appointment. He is encouraging people to ask their pharmacy about how they can get their shot.
For those under the age of 30, however, it’s a different story.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the recommendation for that age group is to get the Pfizer vaccine for their third dose. Those aren’t available in pharmacies, so that age group will still have to use the public health clinics.
