Turns out it’s not quite so clear-cut when it comes to the booster shot as walking into your pharmacy and getting the jab.
Pharmacists were only learning of the changes and expectations of them yesterday, the same time as everyone else.
They had no prior notification.
As a result, the Pharmacists Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is asking people to be patient as they work through the logistics.
For example, PANL President Janice Audeau says they had been seeking clarification from government of the gap time between the second dose and the third shot for some time.
That information only came to light yesterday.
Pharmacists had been going with a 180-day gap, but yesterday it was announced that the lapse was 24 weeks, or 168 days.
They had been turning people away because they were going with the 180 days only to find out yesterday that it was 24 weeks.
In addition, Audeau says every pharmacy is approaching things differently, so the patient has to contact their outlet.
