A King’s Point family has been displaced by a fire that destroyed their home.
The fire broke out yesterday on North Street. The family of five were uninjured, but lost everything.
The Canadian Red Cross arranged for emergency shelter and funds to purchase clothes and food.

Meantime, help has been arranged for a man who had to leave his apartment following a cooking fire Wednesday in Grand Falls-Windsor. The man was living in an apartment in a 24-unit building on Judges Terrace. Damage was confined to one lower level unit of the three-storey building.
Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Chief, Vince MacKenzie says his department has responded to a number of fires this week. He’s offering a reminder of the increased risk of fire during the cold winter months. He’s asking residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms, give heaters plenty of space, and make sure your chimney is clean.
GFWFire crews not long returned from our 3rd call in less than 6 hours tonight. An MVC, a chimney fire, & overheated baseboard heater call serve as a reminder that winter increases our risk. Ensure you have working smoke alarms in your homes, give heaters space & clean chimney
