The capital city has confirmed that the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display will go ahead at 8 p.m. at Quidi Vidi Lake—weather permitting.
Parking will be available in the Dominion Parking lot, but the city is encouraging people to watch from their cars. If you choose to walk to the lake, physical distancing and masks are required.
If the weather doesn’t allow the fireworks to go ahead, they will take place on New Year’s Day at 8 p.m.
All other city-hosted New Year’s Eve events advertised in the City Guide Winter 2022 are cancelled including the skating party at The Loop and the Countdown Celebration leading up to the fireworks.
The city has a self-guided Festival of Music and Lights at the Bowring Park Duck Pond that will be open until January 6.
Meanwhile, The Loop is expected to officially open today with capacity up to 80 people on a first-come, first-served basis with 50-minute sessions.
Anyone 19 or over is required to show proof of vaccination and I.D.
