Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting 493 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, down slightly from Monday’s single-day record of 519.
There are 267 cases in Eastern Health, 57 in Central, 33 in Western, 125 in Labrador-Grenfell, and 11 cases from a private lab outside the regional health authorities.
There remains one person in hospital.
There have also been 164 new recoveries since Monday’s update, leaving 3,254 active cases.
In the Eastern Health region the new cases include 127 females and 140 males and all are under investigation.
The breakdown includes:
- 40 under 20 years of age;
- 103 between 20-39 years of age;
- 24 between 40-49 years of age;
- 52 between 50-59 years of age;
- 25 between 60-69 years of age; and
- 23 who are 70 years of age or older.
In the Central Health region the new cases include 31 females and 26 males and all are under investigation.
The breakdown includes:
- Five under 20 years of age;
- Fifteen between 20-39 years of age;
- Nine between 40-49 years of age;
- Nine between 50-59 years of age;
- Thirteen between 60-69 years of age; and
- Six 70 years of age or older.
In the Western Health region the new cases include 20 females and 13 males and all are under investigation.
The breakdown includes:
- Nine under 20 years of age;
- Eleven between 20-39 years of age;
- Five between 40-49 years of age;
- Five between 50-59 years of age;
- One between 60-69 years of age; and
- Two 70 years of age or older.
In the Labrador-Grenfell Health region the new cases include 68 females and 57 males and all are under investigation.
The breakdown includes:
- Twenty-seven under 20 years of age;
- Forty-nine between 20-39 years of age;
- Sixteen between 40-49 years of age;
- Nineteen between 50-59 years of age;
- Six between 60-69 years of age; and
- Eight 70 years of age or older.
As for the private lab, four females and seven males make up the new confirmed cases there, and all are under investigation. They include:
- Two under 20 years of age;
- Three between 20-39 years of age;
- One between 40-49 years of age;
- One between 50-59 years of age;
- One between 60-69 years of age; and
- Three 70 years of age and above.
The province remains at Alert Level 4, which will be reassessed on January 17th.
