The City of Mount Pearl is putting a large focus on developing outdoor spaces.
With the Omicron variant bringing another wave of the pandemic, the city is planning to improve its trails and green spaces to encourage its residents to stay active.
Mayor Dave Aker says he expects COVID to be with us for a while longer, so it’s important to make those improvements.
He says being outdoors seems to be safer, so they will introduce new initiatives to study implementing a trail system throughout Donovan’s Industrial Park that will join with the City of Mount Pearl trail system.
Aker says the City will also be spending $330,000 dollars to replace the boardwalks at Branscombes Pond and Power’s Pond.
