The tangly job of clearing the tax debts left behind by the late Ron Hynes continues.
The Night of a Thousand Rons was a concert set for the Delta Hotel in late December to help with the cause.
But that was cancelled due to the surge in COVID-19 cases over the holidays.
Heather McKinnon, Ron’s cousin and administrator of his estate, says the financial picture is better than it was a few years ago.
But, she says the Night of a Thousand Rons was never just about the money.
She says while proceeds from the concert would’ve helped, it was also about celebrating his music, adding that’s something she’ll look forward to enjoying more once the pressure of the estate is behind her.
She added there’s no public appeal for assistance, as it’s up to the estate to manage and settle the estate’s affairs.
McKinnon explained that while Hynes still generates royalties for his music, they continue to be garnished by Revenue Canada.
Ron Hynes died on November 19, 2015 of cancer.
He was 64.
