The city of Corner Brook will be closing the Civic Centre and Annex facilities later this month to fix an electrical problem that developed thanks to last week’s thaw.
Warmer temperatures caused a leak that affected the facility’s electrical room.
Electricians, electrical engineers and city engineers have assessed the situation, and will be undertaking repair work starting January 24.
The city is describing it as a proactive move, and it’s hoping that major disruptions to groups that use the facility will be avoided.
The city estimates the work will take about a week or so.
