Despite high case counts, the Department of Justice says to-date not a single case of COVID-19 has been reported among inmates in any of the province’s correctional facilities.
The department says it is aware, however, of one employee who tested positive, and another eleven employees were identified and tested through contact tracing. The results of those tests have come back negative.
Minister John Hogan says while they’re monitoring the situation, policies in place have helped to prevent cases from entering the facility and to deal with situations that may result in low staffing levels.
