Two people are facing dangerous driving charges as the result of a fatal collision on the Trans Canada near Paddy’s Pond on September 21st of last year.
A 50-year-old man who was driving an ATV was struck by a vehicle that left the Trans Canada.
The occupants of the car were injured in the crash.
RCMP investigators determined that two cars were speeding on the Trans Canada moments before the crash.
One of the two vehicles lost control and crashed head-on with the ATV, which was operating on the shoulder of the highway.
21-year-old Mackenzie Sparrow of Brigus was driving the car that struck and killed the ATV driver, while Eric Shea of St. John’s was driving the other vehicle.
Both drivers have been charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Sparrow was scheduled to appear in court today, while Shea is scheduled for court March 11th.
