A Labrador MHA says unlike the island, they are still seeing an uptick in daily cases in the region.
Labrador West MHA Jordan Brown is asking government to evaluate what resources it can send to the Big Land, as they need more testing opportunities and healthcare workers on the ground. Brown also echoed Lake Melville MHA Perry Trimper’s frustrations with the turnaround time for tests to be returned.
Brown says in Labrador West, the mining industry adds an extra pressure to that turnaround time.
He says they have to keep the “massive” mining industry moving, so protection for workers on those job sites is key. He says government needs to evaluate what resources they can send Labrador, as case numbers continue to climb.
He says residents of the Big Land are upset about the access to rapid test kits.
He says public health has rapid tests marked for regional outbreaks, but Labrador hasn’t seen that. He says access to rapid test kits for Labrador West and Happy Valley-Goose Bay could significantly aid the region in its battle against the virus. He says he just wants to see Labrador get its fair share.
