RCMP are investigating the discovery of what is believed to be human remains – found off a trail north of Kelland Drive in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Police have secured the scene and the Chief Medical Examiner is involved.

There’s no word if the discovery is connected to a four-month missing person’s case in the town.

47-year-old Todd Penney was last seen on September 18th in the area of Pottle Street, which runs parallel to Kelland Drive.

Area residents can expect to see a police presence while the investigation is underway.

Police say an update will be provided as information becomes available.
