The Schizophrenia Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is offering a new online program for families of people diagnosed with schizophrenia or psychosis.
The Family Recovery Journey is a national program that helps families share coping skills with others and provide important information to help support loved ones and advocate on their behalf.
Executive Director Susan Hyde says schizophrenia is one of the most serious and stigmatized of all brain diseases and it’s helpful for patients and their families to know there is hope, but it requires the right support.
There is no cure for schizophrenia, but patients diagnosed with the illness can live happy, productive lives in recovery with support when needed.
The free online program will run through February via Zoom. For more information call 777-3335.
