Drivers on the west coast are asked to stay put if possible, due to adverse weather conditions.
The RCMP and the Department of Transportation are warning the public of blowing snow and whiteout conditions on the Trans Canada Highway around Stephenville and further west to Port aux Basques, especially in the Wreckhouse area.
The highway is closed between Deer Lake and Corner Brook until winds subside and icy road conditions improve.
