A former mayor of the town of Lewisporte has passed away. Mayor Krista Freake is offering her condolences on the recent passing of Brian Sceviour, who passed away in hospital at the age of 74.
Sceviour had a 30-year career teaching in the public college school system as well as teaching MUN extension courses in economics and accounting. He devoted much of his spare time to a number of organizations and service groups and was a founding member of the Mussel Bed Soiree Committee.
He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club. He was elected to the Lewisporte Town Council in 1997 and became mayor of the town in 2011
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. from Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte with interment to follow at St. Matthews United Cemetery.
