Rapid test kits will begin rolling out to families and school staff across the province Wednesday even though a final decision on a return to in-class learning has been deferred to Thursday.
The provincial government says as of right now, Monday, January 24th remains the target date for a resumption of in-person classes, and as such, the rollout of rapid test kits will begin tomorrow.
Parents, teachers and staff should receive notice today or tomorrow morning about how kits can be accessed through their local school. People are being asked to hold on to their tests until the official go-ahead. A final decision on back to school will come with the latest live COVID briefing which is scheduled for Thursday.
All students, teachers and staff will be required to take two tests before returning to school…one 72 hours before in-person classes resume, and a second on the morning before leaving for school. If both tests are negative you’re good to go. If either of them comes back positive, then you must isolate and stay home.
