A town in central Newfoundland is losing its only doctor, and the consequences will be devastating, according to the MHA.
MHA Pleaman Forsey says the physician at the Bishop’s Falls Medical Clinic is retiring at the end of April, meaning that the clinic will close.
Forsey says the Liberal Government has had seven years to work on the physician shortage and to come up with a plan.
The Exploits MHA told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly they used to have two doctors there, then it was down to one and soon there will be neither after Dr. Bruce retires.
He says it adds to the frustration with health care in central.
Forsey is still dealing with the closure of the emergency department at the hospital in Botwood.
