While K-12 students head back to class tomorrow, MUN students, faculty and staff must return to campus one week from today—a decision which isn’t sitting well with the MUN Students’ Union.
MUNSU says they are “shocked and disheartened” with the university’s decision.
It says the decision forces members of the university community to risk their health, and the health of their loved ones, to adhere to what they call “unsafe and exploitative academic and professional expectations.”
The union says MUN’s administration is not prioritizing the health and safety of the MUN community.
They point to students who are immunocompromised or who have vulnerable family members, including kids under the age of 12, as well as international students who they say do not have adequate access to health care.
MUNSU says they will not be following the university’s timeline, and will be keeping their operations remote for the time-being.
