The Minister responsible for Labour says the committee established to review the minimum wage will work to find a balance for workers and employers.
The province has announced the establishment of the five-person committee, which will report to minister Bernard Davis no later than April 30, with recommendations on the current process for adjusting the minimum wage.
Davis says such a committee is established once every two years to look at changes in the economy and jurisdictions around the world.
He says the committee is practicing a balancing act between allowing employers to plan for future increases and the betterment for employees.
Meanwhile, Davis reminds that the minimum wage in this province is tied to the consumer price index, and is adjusted every April. He says news on what that change will be this year will be announced in the coming weeks.
