The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reminding drivers to stay vigilant as kids are making their way to school.
It has been over a month since classrooms across the province have been filled with students, and in that time not only has the COVID situation changed but so has the weather.
RNC Media Relations Officer, Constable James Cadigan, stresses that drivers must be cognizant of winter weather conditions in order to keep children safe. He says to make sure any vehicle is clear of snow before heading out, and while in school zones be mindful of your speed and the road conditions.
He says with ice and snow on the roads, stopping times have increased. Cadigan says even if a driver has a green light or the road appears to be clear, they should reduce their speeds.
