The province is expanding its Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation to allow students from Junior High to High School to access courses if they need to isolate or take time off due to COVID.
Education Minister Tom Osborne and CEO of the English School District Tony Stack made the announcement today.
Osborne says the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation is currently available to high school students across the province, to allow them access to pre-taped courses.
It’s not a live classroom experience, but it does offer curriculum for independent learning.
Osborne says there won’t be an opportunity for interaction with other students or the instructor, but it will allow them to access an assigned lecture from a fully-qualified educator.
The Education Minister says the department is hiring instructors to expand the service to Junior High students starting in February.
All high school students and those in junior high are encouraged to log on to CDLI to create an account.
