A local employers’ group says one of the good things to come out of the COVID pandemic is a greater awareness of mental health, and mental health support, in the workplace.
The executive director of the NL Employers’ Council, Richard Alexander, says the stress and strain is being felt among both employees and employers.
He says that’s helped to move the importance of mental wellness into the forefront.
He says mental health and the awareness of the risk it poses for people needs to take a higher priority moving forward.
Alexander says the third lockdown is having a noticeable impact on society as a whole. Added to that is the difficulty employers are having trying to keep people safe, dealing with lost revenue and finding employees who are available to work.
He says access to rapid testing is a real challenge as well.
