A local oil industry analyst is encouraged by word that Equinor is moving ahead with its Bay du Nord project at an accelerated pace.
The massive project, which had been put on hold back in 2020, now appears to be full-steam ahead.
Rob Strong says Upstream Magazine is reporting that contracts have been awarded for the project’s topsides design and is accelerating its start-up date by a full year.
He says the plan was originally for first oil in 2028, but according to Upstream, the company is hoping to move that target to 2027.
“It would be wonderful to see them meet that target,” says Strong.
