The union that represents the municipal workers of Grand Falls-Windsor is crying foul over the town’s statement that it saved money during the worker lockout.
The town released a statement yesterday saying that they saved a net surplus of $782, 248 dollars during the bitter, 14-week dispute.
CUPE, however, says that is not the case, as they claim the cost of the work that would have been provided has not been factored in. They say the town contracted out work for higher fees than it would have cost when done in-house.
They say the lockout was a political decision, not a financial one.
