Despite the fact that registered deaths in this province outpaced births again last year, the province saw a third consecutive quarter of population growth in 2021.
Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne says one cause of that is in-migration.
The minister is quoting figures from Stats Can, which show that the population of Newfoundland and Labrador grew by 2,094 in the first three quarters of 2021.
He says while people are coming in from all around the world, Newfoundland and Labrador saw a big influx of people coming in from other parts of the country amid a growing pandemic trend toward working from home.
He says companies allowing workers to work permanently from wherever they want is part of a growing trend, adding that Newfoundland and Labrador provides a great quality of life for people who have the option to do so.
