The RCMP have provided an update on an ongoing drug investigation that resulted in more charges being laid following the search of a residence on Indian Meal Line in Torbay yesterday.
Two people were arrested in Carbonear on January 7th as the result of an investigation into suspected methamphetamine trafficking in the Conception Bay North area. 38-year-old Jonathan Delaney of Carbonear and 25-year-old Shacara Hoddinott-Legrow were arrested at the time, and a quantity of cash, drugs and weapons were located and seized.
Both Delaney and Hoddinott-Legrow were released to appear in court April 20th on charges of:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Careless storage (ammunition)
- Possession of prohibited weapon (stun gun)
Meanwhile, Delaney and 30-year old Alicia Gilbert of Torbay were arrested by RCMP yesterday.
Gilbert was arrested at a planned traffic stop in St. John’s, and was allegedly found in possession of drugs and a large amount of cash.
Between the traffic stop and the search of the home on Indian Meal Line, approximately three ounces of cocaine, half an ounce of methamphetamine, approximately $35,000 dollars in cash and a variety of drug paraphernalia, vehicles, jewellery, and a shotgun and stun gun were seized.
Alicia Gilbert is now facing a number of drug related charges including:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Unlawful possession of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of proceeds of crime (two vehicles)
Meanwhile Delaney is facing additional charges including:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking
Both Gilbert and Delaney are scheduled to appear in St. John’s Provincial Court on April 26th.
