Visitor restrictions at healthcare facilities are easing today.
One support person is now permitted to visit patients or residents at facilities in Eastern and Western Health.
A support person can visit more than once per day and can be changed every 14 days. They are to go straight to the patients room or visitation space and should get in touch with the health care team.
Pediatric patients may have both parents at the same time as support. Labour and delivery patients may have one support person present during the delivery, and that person can continue to support them throughout the duration of the stay, with no restrictions on the number of visits.
For palliative care, visitation should be discussed with the health care team.
