This weekend, a virtual fundraising concert will take place in support of musicians and mental health resources in the province, through MusicNL & the Canadian Mental Health Association of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Featuring acts like Alan Doyle, The Once, Tim Baker, Shanneyganock, The Ennis Sisters and many more, who will come together, starting at 7:00 Sunday evening.

Funds raised will help alleviate the financial struggles musicians have been feeling due to the pandemic shutdown of many entertainment facilities, as well as mental health programs for musicians and the general public.

Robert Buck of the Mind the Music organizing committee says the hardships felt by musicians are not ones that are publicly known.

He says many of those in the industry will not speak openly about it, and will put on a brave face.

From the outside looking in, Buck says its pretty dismal right now.
