Today marks the fifth anniversary since a gunman entered the Centre Culturel Islamique in Quebec City and opened fire, taking the lives of six Muslim men and injuring many others.
Last year, Ottawa officially designated January 29 as the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia.
To mark the day, the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is holding a virtual commemorative service from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m, which can be accessed online.
All are welcome to attend.
Thank you to the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador for being at Confederation Building tonight to join @GovNL in this gesture of remembrance and action. #antiislamophobia #antiracism https://t.co/LGDZwFWd6D
