A list of qualified candidates for the position of Seniors’ Advocate is before Cabinet for a decision.
The provincial government was responding to Opposition questions surrounding the apparent delay in choosing a replacement for Susan Brake who retired from the position last year.
Opposition critic Jeff Dwyer called the delay in selecting a new Seniors’ Advocate “an insult” to the province’s seniors.
The Office of the Clerk of the House of Assembly says the position was posted on May 28 and the Independent Appointments Commission has submitted a list of qualified candidates to Cabinet for a decision. A resolution to appoint a permanent candidate will be introduced in the House of Assembly.
