Today marks the beginning of Black History Month across Canada.
Yesterday, St. John’s city council made its formal proclamation for the month of February.
Raven Khadeja Anderson, co-founder of Black Lives Matter NL, says this year’s theme is to celebrate black history every day.
She says that means acknowledging that people who look different than you belong, are not just immigrants, and are celebrating their contributions to society simply by existing.
