A St. John’s man has been arrested following a residential break and enter in Jerseyside, Placentia.

RCMP responded to a call around 11:30 Tuesday night of a disturbance outside a home on Blanche Street.

While en route, police received another notification that a man had broken into the house with the occupants inside.

Police communicated with the suspect, who was still inside the house.

Officers entered the home and safely removed the occupants, while the suspect barricaded himself inside a room.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

28-year-old Sherlock Stacey was arrested and has been remanded to appear in court on charges of break and enter, damage to property and breach of a probation order.
