A big posthumous honour for a little girl who captured the hearts of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and made a huge impact in her short life.
Neveah Denine raised thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer patients through Neveah’s Lemonade Stand, even as she was dealing with her own battle with neuroblastoma.
She passed away in 2019 at the age of nine.
Neveah and her mother Holly are now being honoured with the Governor General’s Meritorious Service decorations for their charitable work.
Holly Denine told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly, she wasn’t expecting the award herself, but calls it a great honour.
“This award is all Neveah’s” Holly says indicating that Neveah’s work has been the inspiration for others to perform acts of kindness, and raising money for Neveah’s Angel Foundation. “I really feel this is all Neveah’s and our committee’s” award she told Daly.
