The Canadian Red Cross has stepped in to help a family that has been temporarily displaced by an electrical fire that damaged their home in Torbay on Friday night.

Volunteers arranged emergency lodging, meals and clothing purchases for the family while they await a damage assessment.

The family was not home at the time of the incident.
