The funeral for a man who brought smiles to young and old alike is scheduled for this coming Tuesday.
Christopher “Abbo” Abbott passed away suddenly on Monday at the age of 51.
Abbott first donned a puffin suit back in the early 1990s, as the official mascot of the St. John’s Maple Leafs.
The capital city has seen teams come and go over the last 30 years, but Buddy was a mainstay, entertaining hockey and basketball fans with his antics and feats of athleticism.
A private service, by invitation only is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. but those unable to attend are welcome to view the service online.
Donations in Abbott’s memory can be made to the Janeway Foundation or the SPCA.
A celebration of Abbott’s life will be held at a later date.
