The premiers of each of the provinces and territories are calling on the federal government to address what they call the structural funding shortfall that is affecting health care delivery across the country.
The Council of the Federation met virtually yesterday, hosted by Chair and British Columbia Premier John Horgan.
He says now is the time for a new long-term funding partnership for health care in Canada, and says first ministers must meet for meaningful discussion on finding a sustainable solution as soon as possible.
He says a significant long-term increase in funding is required from the federal government coming out of the pandemic, to ensure the services that people expect and deserve are uniform from coast to coast.
