Team Gushue received well-wishes yesterday from someone who’s literally been there and done that.
St. John’s councillor Jamie Korab, who won Olympic gold with Gushue in 2006, mentioned the senior men’s curling championship is proceeding this year but without spectators, and one other notable exception.
He noted Gushue is tied up with a little tournament on the other side of the world, adding the city will have to find something else to name after the rink when they bring home the gold again.
Gushue’s first game is Wednesday morning at 8:30 Newfoundland time against Denmark.
Meanwhile, Korab said while you can’t watch the provincial playdowns in person, they will be streamed online.
