Less than a year after being appointed as Memorial University’s provost, Dr. Florentine Strzelczyk is leaving the position and moving to Ontario.
Dr. Strzelczyk came to Memorial from the University of Calgary, officially taking over the position in mid-August. She was chosen unanimously by a search committee, an extensive process that was launched in the fall of 2020, after Dr. Noreen Golfman stepped down from the position.
Dr. Strzelczyk’s decision to step down was announced on The Gazette last week, after she accepted an appointment as provost of Western University in London, Ontario. Her decision to move, says The Gazette, was a personal one.
The search process to find a new provost has not yet been announced but is expected to begin in the near future.
