Some more COVID-19 restrictions in Newfoundland and Labrador will be be easing as of this coming Monday, however an increasing number of jurisdictions across the Country are looking at ending some mandates all together—a step which this province isn’t considering just yet.
Saskatchewan is planning to have all public health orders removed by the end of the month, and the vaccine passport is being scrapped next week.
Premier Andrew Furey indicates similar moves won’t be made any time soon in this province. He says they make decisions based on what’s happening here, which has led the province to be in a good position compared to other jurisdictions that have moved too quickly and caused a burden on the healthcare system.
In terms of specific mandates like the NLVaxPass, he says they won’t last forever and hopefully they can end them soon, but the time to pull the plug is not now.
