An elderly man is dead following a house fire in Plate Cove West on the Bonavista Peninsula.
RCMP say the call came in around 12:45 this morning. Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze but the man, who was the only occupant of the home, was found dead inside.
A neighbouring house received heat and smoke damage.
The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is involved in the ongoing investigation.
