A special project is underway for a young girl in the metro area going through leukemia treatments.
It started last year when Krista Wells’ grade one class watched a presentation from the Candlelighters, an organization that helps families going through childhood cancer.
Wells got the idea of doing a bedroom makeover for someone being helped by the organization.
They started taking nominations last December, and settled on 14-year-old Rachel to receive the makeover.
Wells says they have numerous local companies on board to help with the project, and they officially started the renos yesterday on International Childhood Cancer day.
She gives a sneak peak as to what they have in store for Rachel’s new room.
She says they are going for a “vintage charm teen” bedroom, but also something that she can grow into.
