Yet another MP from this province is weighing in on the future of Bay du Nord.
Concerns about the future of the project started with a Radio-Canada report suggesting that there is division in the federal Liberal cabinet about whether to approve it.
Earlier this week MP Seamus O’Regan called the report complete conjecture, saying it has caused nothing but grief.
He further suggested that everything happening with Bay du Nord is in keeping with the environmental assessment process.
Yvonne Jones says that there are six Newfoundland and Labrador MPs in Ottawa right now making sure Bay du Nord “gets a fair hearing,” and that the voices from this province are getting heard.
She says there is a process for the environmental review, and they have had numerous meetings with the minister about it.
She says the NL MPs know the merit of the project and know it is justified.
She says Equinor is committed to net zero by 2050, adding that she can’t see why they wouldn’t extend that commitment to Bay du Nord.
