Tears of joy flooded members of the Brad Gushue Rink, winning the bronze medal in men’s curling at the Olympics. It was the nation’s final chance at a medal in curling.
They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, fell behind 5-4 in the middle ends, then came on strong in the second half, stealing 2 in the 9th to go ahead 8-5. There were rocks in play in the 10th but not enough to allow the U-S to have a chance.
Sixteen years ago, the Gushue Rink won gold at the Olympics. Mark Nichols was also part of that team. Geoff Walker and Brett Gallant round out the 2022 bronze-medal foursome.
The Gushue rink was in trouble a few times during the U-S match but dug down deep to pull it out.
Canada lost a heartbreaker to Sweden in yesterday’s semi-final.
