Mother Nature is throwing everything at us today with wind, rain and snow, causing disruptions in services and the transportation network and making property owners nervous.
The winds are gusting to over 100kmh in the east, south and central and will continue to do so for quite some time.
Heavy rain has been battering the west and south coast for awhile causing washouts and flooded roads, while heavy snow has prompted numerous travel warnings in northern Newfoundland and southern Labrador.

A tractor trailer is off the road on the TCH at Doe Hills, blocking the highway however, traffic is getting through slowly along the shoulder.
The Robin Hood Bay landfill, which is windy on a calm day, shut down early, and a utility wire is down across the main road in Witless Bay.
Loose debris and items not fastened down, such as garbage containers, are blowing around and overhead lighting fixtures are swinging like monkeys on a bar.
“Flash freeze” warnings are up for many areas as the temperature swing will be between 15 and 20 degrees overnight, icing everything up for the weekend according to Environment Canada meteorologist Justin Boudreau.
He says a flash freeze warning is issued in areas where temperatures drop and there is still standing water in place.
The temperature will drop from about plus 5 to 7 degrees around supper time to about about -5 to -10 by 8 p.m.
That’s a greater concern on the west coast where widespread flooding is occurring.
A good supply of road salt for the driveway, walkway and steps won’t go astray this weekend.
